Zunibal names Patricia Ordóñez as Director of Science and Sustainability

February 18, 2025, Vizcaya, – Zunibal, a leading company in technological solutions for sustainable fisheries, has appointed Patricia Ordóñez as Director of Science and Sustainability. In this new position, Patricia will lead the implementation of Zunibal’s sustainability strategy, integrating environmental, social and circular economy practices in the fishing sector.

Before assuming this responsibility, Patricia Ordóñez played a key role in the technological and scientific development of the company. Her relationship with Zunibal began during her doctoral studies at the Universitat Politècnica de València, when she collaborated in R&D projects that combined academic knowledge with practical solutions for the fishing sector.

Since joining in 2020, he has led initiatives in acoustics and sustainability, applying data analysis and the development of new technologies to optimize fishing efficiency and reinforce Zunibal’s commitment to sustainability. His work has been key to strengthening the relationship with the scientific community and advancing innovative solutions for the sector.

In her new role, Patricia Ordóñez will lead Zunibal’s sustainability program, with a focus on resource efficiency, reducing the environmental impact of fishing activities and strengthening the circular economy. She will also lead the implementation of technologies and services for species discrimination. In collaboration with scientific institutions, fisheries departments and NGOs, projects will be developed to promote the optimization of monitoring and tracking systems, as well as the integration of scientific data to ensure more responsible fishing practices and protocols for monitoring the health status of marine species.

Under his leadership, Zunibal will strengthen its impact on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a priority focus on fishing efficiency (SDGs 9, 12, 13 and 14) and the circular economy (SDGs 12 and 14).
