ZUNIBAL RECEIVES THE VISIT OF AINARA BASURKO AND JOSEBA MARIEZKURRENA, REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF BIZKAIA.

Derio, Bizkaia, April 22, 2024. – Zunibal, a benchmark company in the development of technological solutions for sustainable fishing and marine monitoring, was honored to receive a visit from Ainara Basurko, Provincial Deputy for Economic Promotion, and Joseba Mariezkurrena, General Director of Entrepreneurship, Talent and Business Competitiveness of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. The visit took place on April 19 and allowed the representatives of the Provincia Government of Bizkaia to learn first-hand about Zunibal’s innovative technologies and projects.

During the visit, the representatives of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia were given a guided tour of Zunibal’s facilities. During this tour, they were able to observe first-hand the implementation of the ‘lean manufacturing’ methodology, an approach that the company has adopted to optimize processes, significantly improving the quality and efficiency of its production.

In the second part of the visit, Zunibal had the opportunity to present to the visitors the projects and support programs in which it has participated over the last 10 years. The company highlighted its active participation in internationalization and competitiveness programs, such as the Intrapreneurship Program, the Internationalization Program, the Smart Reactivation Program, the 2i Program and the 3i Program. These programs reflect Zunibal’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and environmental responsibility.

Within the framework of its participation in programs of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Zunibal’s most outstanding achievements include artificial intelligence solutions that provide assistance and support tools for decision making: better fishing areas, tuna identification models, trajectory prediction, biomass estimation and the detection of target species. These innovations not only minimize bycatch, but also facilitate the choice of the optimal route to fish, optimizing the ratio of tons caught per nautical mile and significantly reducing the industry’s carbon footprint.
